After a year of doing almost nothing for my art, I finally got back on the road! :D

This small drawing came into being yesterday night. Took me few hours today to finish it. I still consider myself new in Acryl, because there are so many things I do wrong and even more things I cannot do at all! =] For example details and smooth straight lines are things that still needs a lot of my practice and patience. Nevertheless I got surprised how well it turned out after an eternity of not drawing anything.

To start off with, the piece's bright colours immediately call to the eye's attention. The image in your imagination has been well captured here, and although the detail in the image isn't always there - the house in particular; it's outline is a little uncertain - other parts show good use of both the paint and brush.

The use of spattering colours has worked very well in adding to the dreamy, storybook style of the painting. Also, the combination of the daylight-coloured grass and the night sky, separated perfectly by the house and its black colour.

One detail of the image I particularly love is the lines of their colour suspending them from the clouds. The technique here really stands out from other traditional works around similar themes I've seen.

Just something to note as an artist - this piece caught my eye, but didn't really stand out, in my opinion. When I first began writing this critique, I found lots of points I thought you could work on, but the more I have looked at it, it really has grown on me. I now find myself tripping up on my words in wondering how to tell you every part of the image I like without repeating myself; so I'll let you know that overall, I enjoyed this piece, but if I were to give you a point to improve on, I'd say to give the piece a greater impact, so that a viewer wouldn't have to look at it for a few minutes before really liking it - make it more of an instant favourite. I'd also improve on the picture by making the outline of the house clearer, sharper. Otherwise, this image is wonderful!
